I have been excited to feature this amazing family. The Terrells.

Anyone who knows them loves the heck out of them. First, Lisa & Chris are the most adorable humans. Then, they have created these three amazing girls, Julia, Cece & Iris (aka. Squeaky) who have all the sweetness, spunk and silliness that is so fun to capture that on camera. I have loved every single second that I have worked with them through the years!

I remember vividly the very first session back when I first moved here. Lisa brought in Julia. This adorable little one year old with huge eyes and curly locks. I thought... this is going to be the best session ever! Well... unfortunately Julia didn't feel the same way and wanted nothing to do with me or that big black thing that I was sticking in her face. I think she pretty much cried her way through the session. I managed to get a few moments between tears and happened to capture one of my favorite images ever. That taught me that all it takes is a moment to capture the most amazing image. (That AND some help in photoshop!)

Well all of the sessions after that were a hoot and always fun to look forward to. I love love working with them each year (except for a couple years that we missed) and cannot wait to continue capturing their girls growing up.  And senior photos are right around the corner Lisa! Not sure who's gonna freak out more!

Enjoy these images of the Terrell family through the years...

This session was VERY special to me for so many reasons!

Karen & Kyle and my daughter Jess are all very good friends. Karen and Jess have been besties since high school and all through college together. Once married, they often thought how fun it would be to have babies together. So they did.

Little Theodore Flynn Boser was born a week early and has blessed the lives of so many already. Karen and Kyle are so special to me that they feel like my own children... so Teddy is almost technically my grandson as well.... at least I am going to spoil him like one every chance I get.

In home newborn sessions are my whole heart. I love capturing the babies in their surroundings with all of the details of their new life. I want the memories of these images to bring everyone back to that a very special time in a very special place. Capturing the real and the every day is so much more meaningful to me and hopefully to my clients as well.... even if they are like family.

I first met Teresa and Peter back in December of 2008 when they brought their sweet newborn Lilliana in for baby photos. The first thing I remember thinking was "oh... what a beautiful young couple". Then I totally ignored them as I gushed over their perfect little newborn Lilly. I always love being a part of that time in a young couple's life when they are just starting their family. Talking about the excitement and the doubts. It's like I know this little secret that they are now a part of... that their heart will forever live outside of their body.

I have been so blessed that they have come to visit me every December since then. I have gotten to be a part of two more adorable babies added to the crew. Veronica and Peter Nicholas were just as beautiful. I often joke at how GORGEOUS their family is and they get better looking each year! The kids are growing up and Teresa and Peter are looking younger.

This family has truly made my job so special and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for sharing their family with me.

Is it December yet?

In honor of my 25th Annie-versary... every month I am going to showcase a client that has a been with me pretty much ever since I relocated here to MN in the early 2000's. Anyone who sticks with me year after year deserves a little recognition don't you think? If it weren't for my amazing clients, I would probably be doing who knows what. I love my job so much and creating images and memories for my clients. But what I love even more than creating pretty pictures is the relationships that I have made with them over the years. When I say that I treat them like family and they become like family... I am not kidding.

So here is the first of a few of such amazing families.

THE BASKFIELDS.

Oh, what can I even say about this family? I truly love them.

I remember our very first session together. They had me come to their home to photograph their newborn Julia. She couldn't go out in public yet so we created some sweet shots in their home. I had no clue how very special my relationship with this family would become. Lisa and Mark are two of the nicest people on this planet (and it's a damn big planet!) They are raising 3 amazing kids that I have truly enjoyed photographing and watching grow up through the years. I got to work with Olivia a couple summers ago for her senior photos... now if that doesn't make me feel old! And this next year I will get to work with Thomas. (sorry dude... you gotta put up with me just a little longer).

My biggest fear when creating relationships with these families is that one day the kids grow up and they stop calling. That they grow out of needing photos. What I am hoping is that they still call and when those kiddos start getting married and having babies of their own (yes Lisa.. this WILL eventually happen), that I will get to start the process all over again. and again. and again.

Love you dearly Baskfield family. Each and every one of you!

It certainly is not very difficult for me to think about what inspires me every day. To get up in the morning. To smile. To feel gratitude. To create.

As the years (I won't tell you how many) have gone by... I have learned what is truly valuable in my life. What I can live with and what I cannot live without. Take away all of my posessions and I survive. Those I love are irreplaceable and what gives my life meaning. God has taken away several of my family members and I have a hole inside missing them every day. I know so personally the value of those smiles and hugs and the sharing of lifes simple moments. My family and good friends are the ones that inspire me to be a better person, to be healthier so I can be around longer and enjoy life with them.

These are my 3 favorites...

My Jessica. My first bon. My princess. She was full of sweetness the moment she was born and hans't changed one bit. Never went through the "terrible twos" (her brother made up for that), never hated me through her puberty years and has blossomed into the most gorgeous, smart, confident adult. She's got her sh!# together! I am so grateful she lives close and we get to share life every day in one way or another. She found her passion and became a Spanish Immersion kindergarden teacher. So proud of my princess. PLUS she's getting married at the end of this year to a fabulous young man. You will probably hear all about the planning of that amazing event that will be among the gorgeous spanish ruins in Antigua, Guatemala. Can hardly stand the excitement! Her heart inspires me.

girl, woman, daughter

Nelly. My man. If you can package kindneess, toughness, creativity, sensitivity, good looks and funny all in one... that would be Nelson. He is s uch a "guy" and does such "guy" things, but when all is said and done... he knows what he loes and goes after it. He knew from a young age that he wanted to become a chef. He never made a plan B. Luckliy his passion and his creativity has launched him into the culinary world and he has found his home there. Works his butt off and loves every minute of it. He's a lover of family, friiendships, cats, music, travel and awesome food. Love this guy. Go visit him at Travail sometime! His passion inspires me.

boy, youth, man

Then there is Dave. My Dave. the man I could only have dreamed of. Just when I had gotten used to the idea that I may  never have a "roommate" again and that I was destined to be "that" single lady... he pops into my life. I acutally was content being single, living in my new place on the lake, buiding my business, enjoying my kids and feeling settled. What did I know? He filled this crazy void that even I didn't know I had. Life is a bazillion times sweeter with him in it. We really are two peas in a pod and are looking foward to growing up together.  Well... we may never grow up but we will certainly have fun trying! I love my new hubby more than he even knows. His love inspires me.

man, laughing
